Michael Rushing
President, Hoffman Building Technologies
Michael Rushing is a building technologies and business leader who drives strategy, growth, and innovation at Hoffman Building Technologies — connecting automation and integration to advance performance, comfort, and sustainability in the built environment.
He brings more than a decade of experience with the Hoffman family of companies, having held roles in sales engineering, territory leadership, and regional management across the Southeast. Most recently, he led Hoffman Hydronics in Atlanta before being named President of Hoffman Building Technologies in 2025. Michael holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA with concentrations in Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization and Financial Management from North Carolina State University.
Chris Stegall
Vice President of Operations, Hoffman Building Technologies
Chris Stegall has spent his entire career in the building automation and controls industry — and wouldn’t have it any other way. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from NC State and brings 14 years of experience as a software engineer programming and integrating control systems, before joining Hoffman Building Technologies in 2004. Over the course of his career, Chris has earned a notable set of technical credentials: Certified Alerton Engineer, Certified Tridium R2 and AX Programmer, Certified Siebe Systems Integrator, and Certified Circon Software and Hardware Engineer. Since 2018, he has served as Vice President of Operations, combining deep technical expertise with a passion for building strong teams and ensuring customers get exactly what they need.
Randall Doss
Vice President of Service, Hoffman Building Technologies
Randall Doss is a U.S. Air Force Veteran with a background in the Civil Engineering field, whose career has spanned more than three decades at the intersection of technical expertise and service leadership. He began in the HVAC industry as a technician in 1994, expanding his expertise to include Building Automation Systems (BAS) in 1996 before transitioning into management and sales roles in 2004. Since joining Hoffman Building Technologies in 2019, Randall has brought that depth of experience to bear in delivering reliable, customer-focused service solutions. Randall holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University.
Brian Lampley
Director, Critical Technologies, Hoffman Building Technologies
Bryan holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from UNC Charlotte and brings nearly three decades of experience in building technologies and control systems. Bryan joined Hoffman Building Technologies in 2012 and currently leads the Critical Technologies team in delivering fault‑tolerant HVAC, controls, and power monitoring solutions for hyperscale data centers, life sciences, manufacturing, food processing, and other mission‑critical environments. With a background as a sales engineer, Bryan blends deep technical expertise with a strong commercial mindset, helping bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and client needs to ensure high‑performance, operations‑ready solutions.
Adam Nelson
Director of Enterprise Performance, Hoffman Building Technologies
Adam Nelson is a three-time Olympian and business transformation leader who joined Hoffman Building Technologies in 2025 to drive enterprise-wide performance, governance, and operational excellence. He brings experience in business operations and athletic administration to align people, processes, and platforms for sustainable growth. Beyond HBT, Adam serves as an At-Large, Athlete-Elected Director on the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee Board, where he sits on the Finance & Audit Committee and advocates for clean sport, safe sport, and athlete-first governance. Adam holds a B.A. in Government from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Will Carter
Director of Sales, Hoffman Building Technologies
Will Carter joined Hoffman Building Technologies in 2015 as an Inside Sales Engineer and has since advanced through roles in regional sales leadership before being named Director of Sales. Over that time, he developed deep expertise in critical environments — particularly healthcare and research facilities — where building performance carries real consequences. That ground-level experience informs how he leads HBT’s sales team today, with a focus on honest client partnerships, technical depth, and building a team that values education as much as results. He also plays a key role in supporting the company’s expansion into new markets. Will holds a B.S. in Business from NC State University and an MBA from the Cameron School of Business at UNC Wilmington. Outside of work, he can be found traveling with his wife Taylor and son Grayson.
Laine Cockerham
Controller, Hoffman Building Technologies
Laine Cockerham serves as Controller at Hoffman Building Technologies, overseeing the financial operations that support the company’s growth and long-term stability. She has held the role since 2018, bringing a background in public accounting and corporate auditing to help enable the efficient, technology-driven solutions HBT delivers across its markets. Laine holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from UNC Greensboro and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
